It's deja vu all over again
The bells are pealing
Everyone is exuberant; broad smiles, high fives
All that wielding and dealing have paid off
The numbers don't lie
The balance sheet once again will reflect
stocks going way high.
But, where do we fall into all of this?
When will all this profit trickle down
to the everyday man?
We put in the long hours, did your kid's science
project and even put in extra hours so Sue can attend
her ballet practice
Where were you? At another board meeting; salivating
over your additional 000000's
What is it? You're flirting close to a trillion?
We're dumb-founded
The last we learned is that you also have stakes
in our neighborhood real estate
And from the looks of things, you're slum-lords
Isn't ironic how you choose to pay us back, by once again
hiking our rental rates without providing even a
living wage?
It's deja vu all over again
The year is coming to a close
The profits are again going through the roof
Nothing has changed
Medical insurance is null, sick and vacay are
basically piped-dreams and as for
enough pay to cover childcare, that's a bust.
Nothing has changed
Bonuses are only for those in your higher
echelon
The little-man will just have to settle for dregs
well, not really
At least he'll be gifted the feathery one
But, we say, "Let that Turkey Go!"
It's time to honor your best assets and cease
to treat as numbers
We beg to defer; we won't accept your turkey
It's just not enough!
